Project Overview
Installation of Fast Charging Stations along the NYS Thruway System with Level 2 and Level 3 Charging Stations. Work including new electrical services to power charging stations. Level 2 Chargers take roughly 4 hours to charge. Level 3 Chargers are capable of 50-100Kw and charge in roughly 30 minutes.
Provided Electrical Engineering Design Services for 19 locations along the NYS thruway system with level 2 and 3 charging stations.
New charging stations help decarbonize the transportation sector, reduce statewide carbon emissions and encourage more drivers to utilize electric vehicles and public transportation.

Installation of the dual-port Level 2 charging stations along the Thruway began in July and is scheduled to be completed and available for use by the fall. Each installation will support two electric vehicles charging simultaneously at about 7kW. On average, a Level 2 charging station will fully charge an EV battery in approximately 4 to 5 hours. Commuters can park their cars at the Park and Ride lot and return at the end of the workday to a fully charged car.
